What is cognitive presence in distance education?

Cognitive presence process of constructing knowledge by exploring and intergrating new ideas, brainstorming; not having a large gap between what is presented and learned is a sign of the students being cognitively present. There needs to be cooperation and students should be engaged in the class as much as possible even in digital platforms. In order for the students to be into what we are teaching, we should encourage them to participate.

Social presence is to be seen by others while also seeing them. It also can be described as being together, belonging somewhere - in this sense an online course - and interacting with others.  Transactional Presence is being connected; having interpersonal interactions. Teaching Presence is engaging and inspiring in the classroom, setting curriculum and organizing.
